Horizon Scanning
Horizon scanning is the process of maintaining a very wide awareness of technology development across a diverse range of fields. The key to Horizon Scanning is the need to identify potentially useful or disruptive technologies while they are still immature, and prepare our businesses to exploit or adapt them. Horizon scanning is by nature cross-domain, but not necessarily to a deep level.
Technology Watch
Our Technology Watch is complimentary to the Horizon Scanning described above, and is the process of understanding new or novel technologies in depth, in order to understand the implications for our business. Technology watch topics often result from Horizon Scanning, where a particular new development is considered important enough to require a detailed investigation.
Technology Watch addresses all aspects of a particular technology, including identifying the key research groups and industry players, identifying possible business opportunities and if required, conducting detailed IP analyses.
The Horizon Scanning and Technology Watch activities generate regular reports that are distributed internally, in addition to specific reports produced on request.
